So, I won't lie. I pirate. I download torrents of games that I want to play, because I think 90% of them are ridiculously over-priced. Games like Sims2 for instance... something like 20 expansions, and each of them a minimum of twenty-five bucks on the shelf. No freakin way do I have that kinda money. I sit at home and amuse myself on a computer because I DON'T have money. Now, don't get me wrong, I do occasionally buy a game, like if it's a game that I've been waiting for, or from a publisher that I respect, or one who doesn't overcharge or sell what should be an update in order to make as much cash as possible. Well, and when I have to because it's an online game. Stupid online games.

But, back on track; I've noticed one thing that stuns me every time. I have a curious mind, so while I'm waiting on my stolen files to download, I read through the comments people make about certain downloads, sometimes to check if it's virused or corrupt, but most of the time just out of curiousity. I swear to you, on every game I download, in the comments, there is at LEAST one person who doesn't know what to do with the file at some point between finding the download page, and playing the game.

Most of the time, it's problems and questions with how to mount an image, or .iso file... There's also frequent issues with "This game doesn't work! It keeps asking for the CD!". Sometimes you even get the special ones that ask what to do with the crack file, or how to unzip a file. My favourites are the ones that ask how to download a torrent...

Personally, I feel that these people shouldn't even be downloading software if they don't even know how to use a torrent, but, hey, everyone starts somewhere, right? Well, in that spirit, I decided to compose a small guide on how to download software, unzip it, mount it, install it, and then crack it, taking you step-by-step to limit the room for errors.
I take no responsibility if any of these instructions make your computer blow up or die, because nothing I'm telling you should make your computer blow up.

Shall we call it Pirating for Dummies? ;p

But, seriously, if you're not computer savvy, I honestly recommend just going out and spending your money on the actual licensed software. It'll make your life easier, because you don't need to do all this, and what to do will be laid out clearly in the manual, not to mention you'll have a support number somewhere to call... But, for those who insist on trying anyways, here's what to do, step by step...

First: Get a torrent downloader if you don't have one yet, Bitcomet works great, there's bittorrent and utorrent also that are well known (just open google and search for "torrent downloader; you'll find something).

Second: Locate the software you want (you'll have to do this part yourself, but google can be your friend) then click the link that says "download this torrent" or something to that effect (if you have a popup blocker, either select "Allow this site temporarily" or hold ctrl+alt when clicking the link until the download opens--it'll override the popup blocker). If you're given a choice, simply select "open"--your torrent downloader will figure it out.

Third: Wait for the download to complete 8D (it may take a while if the number of seeders is limited).

Fourth: Make sure you have an unzipping program like WinRar, 7-Zip, or WinZip (again, google is your friend; "unzip program" or even "zip program" should find something).

Fifth: Simply find and right-click the downloaded file (you can usually right-click the name of the software downloading on your torrent program and select "open file location") and select "Extract here" or "Unzip here". If you don't see that when you right-click, just double click and your zip program will open, then you can select the files you want and ask the program to unzip/extract to the same location as the download. Now, this is where it gets tricky...(lol)

Sixth: Make sure you have an image mounting program (image is basically a techy term for the CD as stored on your computer... basically)... Daemon Tools is the best I've found yet, but there are others (Hey! That Google thing again!)

Seventh: Double-click the .iso file, and Daemon will automatically mount the file and start running it, unless you've tinkered with settings (if you had trouble getting to this point, so help me god if you tinkered with settings). The majority of downloads will give you a .iso file extension for the cd image, but sometimes there will be other types of files like .vcd, .dmg, or .toast - if you're not sure which file is the CD image, run Daemon Tools and click on the toolbar icon, selecting "Mount drive", then use the search that opens to find the image file in the location you downloaded it. NB: it must be unzipped first.

Eighth: Follow the prompts to install your software. If this step doesn't work for some reason you're either experiencing ID-10-T errors, or your download was corrupt/didn't complete. NB: if you're not 'good' at this sort of thing, just click "Ok" or "Next" all the way through once you've selected your language; it'll work itself out ;) BUT! Make note of where the program says it will install itself! We'll need this later. (If you haven't been able to install the program due to an error, try deleting the download and starting again, or asking a help forum like http://www.howtogeek.com/forum/.)

Ninth: Download a no-cd crack if you can't run the game with the image mounted to daemon--some games ask for the original CD to be in the drive... (google <3 ... search " no cd crack" and you'll find something on the first page no problem). Save it into its own special made folder on the desktop so it's easy to find but doesn't get confused with the shortcut--the picture will look the same.

Tenth: Locate the .exe file where you installed the program... Remember that location I had you make note of in step Eight, and just look around a bit in the folders(don't move anything!) until you find something that looks like the icon on your desktop, but says ".exe" at the end of it's name (you may have to 'hover' your mouse over the picture to see "executable file" or something like that). Open the folder on the desktop where you saved your no-cd crack and MOVE it (don't copy/paste, that doesn't always work) ie. click and drag it on top of the .exe file you found. It'll ask you if you want to overwrite, say YES.

Eleventh: You should be ready to go now! The link on your desktop WILL work at this point, because the actual game file's .exe that it connects to is working. Enjoy!

Note: if you can't get the game running/working after reading this carefully, get a ten-year-old kid to help you. Chances are they probably know their way around this "new fangled contraption". <3
I hope this helps!

P.S. Always remember the goold ol'fashioned "RESTART" after installing a new program. Sometimes if it doesn't run properly, a simple computer restart will fix it!

P.P.S. I take no responsibility for people who use this imformation; this is just a guide! What you do with iw is your own responsibility!
